A Mime Rhyme

November 6, 2009

If I could go back in time,
I would speak that perfect rhyme.
I would write it down and make sure to save it,
Read it to you and make it your favourite.
Have the words come off the sheet,
And lay them down right at your feet.
Make sure you knew that they were yours,
Through sleepless nights and waging wars.
Have you know that the words were forever,
Written for you so damn clever.
Have them go and steal your heart,
Incase it wasn’t mine from the start.
Make it clear that they were always yours,
Whether sunny or if it pours.
Know that the words written down on that paper,
Is and was a fruit of my labour.
I’d have them stay with you every where you go,
But that was back in time oh so long ago.
Now we’re here in present day,
And they were words I didn’t write or say.
It’s a regretful thing I know for sure,
It’s a regret I’ll have to endure.
But know that if I could go back in time,
I wouldn’t be that silent mime,
Hunting all day and all night,
For words and rhymes that I could write.
